We get children staying in Plymouth from Kiev just to gve their young systems a chance to recover somewhat for a month before they go back.
Its a thing that has run every year for many years now ,each month away extends their young lives by 2 years its a fantasic charity we are all rightfully proud of here in Plymouth with families enviting them over to stay :-

Hey Lisa you dont live in Europe , I remember being aboard my second trawler the Ondaraman thinking ust how lucky I was to be fishing away frm the UK when chernobyl kicked off only to find at a later date that we were directly in line with some of the fall out in the Irish box (an area of fishing at the bottom of the UK and Ireland ).so god knows if I got a dose of radiation or notGreat article, as long as you don't live by Chernobyl or other such hazardous areas rain water sounds fine. Check the parameters, make sure your tank is clean and not stagnate. Never really considered the people who live in areas where water isn't abundant.
@Lisak1 I tell ya there are fear mongers out there that could keep ya locked in your house if ya let them!
Really acid rain in Illinois? I live in Michigan and grew up 2 hours from Chicago. Wouldn't acid rain ruin everything from yards, plants, animals?
