Checking in after a looong abscence

Well, it's been a while. I meant to post back in the summer of 2023, when the pond finally began to really come into its own. But then the end of the world sort of derailed stuff for a bit. But @GBBUDD's reminded me how very long it's been since I posted here. So, here are a few photos of how the pond is coming along!

New stream out of the bog. The big waterfall directly facing the camera is fed by the spitter, that prevents backflow if the power goes out. There's a smaller waterfall over the log on the lefthand side, that faces the shady sitting area.

Good to see you here. Looks beautiful and so peaceful! Would never know there is a war going on behind the scenes. Praying everyday this thing ends soon and all of Israel can heal

Glad to hear your ok, The pond has matured nicely and i LOVE the lemon tree's hanging over the pond. In sure it has helped you and the chef take a deep breath of relief and forget the turmoil for a little while.
I wish Everyone would learn how to get along . it's disturbing when a few individuals can dictate the world will be in turmoil. But it is looking like many of us might experience the resilience needed to keep on keeping on. China blocking the panama cannal, North korea crossing the border to south korea, houthis and straight, the hamas with yourself, Ukraine and Putin, Greenland will be next , And i'll add George soroughs trying to continue to bring america down.

Ah what a nice surprise. Weather has been so dreadful here so it is great to see your beautiful pond. Hope you, your family and your friends are all well under the circumstances. We have not forgotten about you.

Its been a long winter, not too many new pond builds. @Lisak1 thought she was being helpful with her "Easy Pond cleanup" until we all went down a deep rabbit hole. How Sodium Percabonate became a five page thread is beyond me. But fun reading

Its been a long winter, not too many new pond builds. @Lisak1 thought she was being helpful with her "Easy Pond cleanup" until we all went down a deep rabbit hole. How Sodium Percabonate became a five page thread is beyond me. But fun reading

Just finished reading through that thread! Definitely a fun read! And now I need to source some of that stuff locally and run a couple of experiments. Not that I have much gunk on the pond bottom at the moment. Pond is only three years old, so it hasn't had time to really build up. But the citrus trees are dropping leaves like there's no tomorrow, and not all of them make it into the intake bay (lucky for me that lemons float!). So worth trying.

Meanwhile, His Honor the Chef finally got his koi, after I held out for a year or so. We bought seven of the pricey little buggers, then a year later added five more. I've had to make a deal with him: for every koi he buys, I get another chain saw... Seems to have dissuaded him for now. ;-)
