Change Dechlorinater unit cratridges

Now we are officially at the start of the new season may I suggest those of us who use dechlorinators to remove the chlorine from the tap prior to it going into the pond using the trickle method as we do. have a long hard think just how many gallons you have put through the unit in the last 12 months then think serioulsly about replacing the older ones now .
This way we are ready to pump water through it and have no problems with Chlorine throughout the year which is the last thing we want .

Sorry if I sound stupid, but are you talking about trickle methods to keep the water level from getting low? I have heard about that being done, but never came across any way to do that. Is there a link, or topic here, that would explain this more in detail.
