Well Addy just posted a comment in a thread where I mentioned cameras for the pond. I thought it could make a good thread for questions. I installed a 3 camera wireless barn camera setup for my wife for the horses. She can view them on here phone or internet while we are away or even if it is real stormy outside :) My house is about 300ft away from the barn which is why I went wireless. I used what is called POE injectors (power over Ethernet) this why no cables where needed from the house to the barn.

I will be installing one for our pond also, this one will not be wireless but directly installed to the router but I will still use POE so there where be no need to run power to it. Not sure of which camera yet, this will be still in a few weeks before the install. We have night vision on all the cameras which works great.

Here are 2 of the cameras. I did the install myself and put all the cables and connectors in the boxes you see

Neat, I have not read about POE injectors, need to read up on it.

We ran pvc lines down the slope when I was digging the pond, ran our lines for the cameras down them. My honey wants me to put a camera on the bee hives. We have a wireless camera, but the feed is not good when wireless. Our system has 8 cameras, I could use more.

I bought a couple of POE cameras for my pond and forest watching, Swann HD-820CAM 1080P from Costco.
I found out that the POE with these only works with the Swann DVR so I had to order separate power supplies for the cameras as I don't have a separate DVR.
I plug them directly into my ethernet hub and have my Macintosh record any movement detected. I use Security Spy software for that.
Here's a picture of the cameras, a day shot and a night shot of the pond.
The big white blob at the top of the night shot is some snow hanging off the roof from last night. Thankfully it's melted away this morning.
