Brook sticklebacks

How do I keep sticklebacks alive? I tried keeping one but it ended up dead the same day( yet the little bugger somehow survived a 3 hour trip home in a bottle) any who I was wondering what sorts of things
Water quality,food, tempurture would best benefit there survival?

Fish taken from the wild are often in weak condition after Winter, riddled with all sorts of native pests.

An isolation pond or aquarium where you can follow there progress would be a good start and precaution

Don't really have any acclimation tanks besides a cooler which I'm holding minnows in. Also I doubt the sticklebacks would need much acclimation anyway(considering they have survived in such dirty environments)
