Hi all, I'm building a pond which will be around 1000 gals. would a 3 inch pipe be suitable for a bottom drain? The drain will be about 12 ft. from the pump. Thanks

I would think so. It seems people use 3 or 4 inch.

I just finished a new pond a couple of months ago and I installed 2 4" bottom drains using a 5100 gph pump. The two 4" drains supply more than enough for the pump. I have blocked off one of the bd's and the one still supplied enough water for the pump but I will add that I only let the pump run on one drain for about a half hour.
