I have a small pond . It is 5 feet long and 6 feet wide and about 18 inches deep. What size bog filter do I need to build? Thanks .

Addy has a good bog post that says

If you want total pond filtration using a bog;
By volume, 5-15% the size of the water volume of the pond.
By surface area, 10-30% of the pond surface area.

My pond is 11 ft long and 6 ft wide, with average depth probably around 2 ft, and my bog is 5' by 4' and maybe 11 inches deep or just under.

Build the biggest bog you can fit and afford is my advice. Minimums are a good starting point, but you really can't overbuild a bog.

And they're just as amazing as the pond itself, in my opinion!

Mine is oversized. 27 long x4.5 feet wide by 2.5 feet deep.

Never bother with it except pulling excess plant growth. Keeps the pond perfect.
