Black Goldfish

Added 5 fish into my new pond about 4 months ago.
1-of ea. cali fantail..shubunkin..comet..small koi and a gold fantail.
I had about 25 fry of different colors and two black fish.
Will they eventually change color?

I have some thinking of changing, hard to say how old, I don't keep that good of track of the herd.

I'm gonna guess yes. All of ours that started black eventually turned.

I've got several year-old black goldfish. Funny thing, when they turn horizontal (feeding on algae on the pond sides) - with the flat side of body facing the sky & sun - they flash a wild golden color that looks spectacular. Then, when they right themselves, they almost disappear as they become all black once more. None of the parents were black.

Same here, some of them have beautiful finnage. Long flowing tails.

All of my black youngsters eventually turned a different color. One took over 2 years to change. I always hope that they keep some of the black since I like the contrasting colors when they start changing, but it never happens. At least not so far.

They are still black.Hard to see with a black liner background. I really hope they stay black.

They will prolly turn oj but also could turn white, pinkish or yellowy.

Yes most do change, but I now have about 4 who are now 5 years old who are still a dark, soft blackish taupe.

I have black ones, gray green ones, black ones that are slowly turning orange. A great mix

Mine all changed colors over the years..some changed several times over their life time.
