Anyone got links or pictures of your basement tanks? My current QT is a plastic bucket outside and was thinking of setting up a basement one instead. Maybe 4x8x3 dimensions or so. Run a 55g filter on it.

Any issues with splashing or smells? Back flushing smell at all? Would just plumb to the sump or basement drain. Require much lighting?

Thanks.

I guess it would be more along the lines of 4x8x4 so you only have to rip one sheet of plywoodin half..

if you search through the forum you'll find a few indoor ponds,
In the search try, indoor pond, basement pond, winter pond. Several folks here use them and I know at least one, James has a nice DIY on his indoor pond/Nursery now!

ive operated a basement pond for 4 years...800 gallons and my fish spent 6 months a year in it.... i've been using a 55 gal drum filter on it but i think i'm gonna build a 110 gal stocktank filter for it...not that there was even the slightest problem with the 55 gal filter but the extra capacity of water volume is a plus, and i will put a weir on the stocktank filter for a better falls for aeration as well.
heres a video of my basement pond:

Does that waterfall echo around the house at all? Seems like it might be kinda loud unless it's just the camera. Do you bother running a heater?

you cant hear it by the time you reach the basement stairs really...by the time your at the top of the steps youve got to really listen for it. you'd never know anywhere else! this camera has a pretty sensitive mic.
