I had a near heart attack seeing Ponyo again. Her beautiful orange scales are turning black and one of her eyes appear to be cloudy.
I’ve just treated her for any bacterial or fungal infections, the pond water quality is excellent (pH 7.5, nitrates 0, nitrites 0, and ammonia 0), none of my other fish have been having issues (caught a few to inspect and give a once over), nor have they shown any signs of aggression towards her or my other fancies (everyone gets along great)

My friend thinks it may be an eye injury, and I’ve been treating her in a separate tank again, salt bath for 5 minutes, and a general fish cure along with a double does of primafix and melafix.

Will there be any way to save the eye? She was only in the pond for 5 days after I cleared her from the tank initially after completing her initial swim bladder issues

If this were my fish I would treat with a malachite green/formalin medication like Proform C. Not sure that particular brand is available, but there are others out there.

I would treat the hospital tank AND the pond and do the recommended 3 consecutive days. You could even add a fluke treatment on day 3, if you want to cover all the bases.

It will not harm the beneficial bacteria and to me it is much more effective than what you are using.

Can be toxic to fish if mixed with salt. Although some have done it without harm. But it's probably not worth the risk.

I'm assuming you are treating with FMG?

I've not found Melafix or Primafix to help with anything. The Proform C, on the other hand, can work wonders.

Glad to know she is doing better.

Just becareful not to overdose and to bring the levels up slowly if it calls for say sixteen oz of proforma c I add it over 10 minutes. That way the fish doesn't get shocked and you can observe if one has an issue with the treatment
