Sitting out yesterday taking a break while working on the Pergola and what do we find in the pond? Tiny baby fish. They were kind of orange colored and less than half an inch long. Didn't even know I had any gravid fish. We have 2 Comets and one of them looks a little smaller than it did before (or could be my imagination). My pond has only been up for about a month and a half. I couldn't take any pictures because the camera wouldn't focus on the tiny stuff under the water and was focusing on the ripples. It was 106 degrees yesterday and I added a few frozen 2 liter bottles of water to my waterfall tub to try to cool the water down. The fish were laying as close to the bottom as the could in the deepest shade they could find.

Here is a gallery of pictures of the progress I've made so far. When I have enough posts to edit my signature, I'll put it on there.

We only saw 10 or so. I don't know much about Goldfish or Comets having babies. I know Koi can have thousands of eggs by reading a few threads on this forum and another. I've not been able to find much reliable info on Goldfish though.

I had 4 fish, have seen tons of fry. The parents may have eaten some of the eggs, natural control.

several thousand per the net! per gold fish

We have babies too!
There are more than this but these 4 seem to hang around together.

How cute! Wonder if the lil goldish brown looking ones will stay that way. The ones on the right.

Those are awesome. I've seen 10 out at the same time. We're going to let nature take it's course on this first batch. We're not going to separate them or anything. I thought I might give nature just a small push though. I modified my hyacinth rings following koiguy's DIY to allow a good place for the babies to hide. We didn't really want any more fish because of the load on the pond and the heat, but I figure Kay Sera Sera.

Hi Computer guy, Congrats on the new additions! If you can look out a window in the morning and you see the goldfish zipping around the pond then that's a sure sign they are spawning. Some days I just see flashes of color because they are moving in a group so quickly...boys after the girls.
