looks like they had a shallow pond for plants that lead to a bigger pond .What condition first is the cement in .Looks like for now it is holding water but what a mess .That's why realtors won't sell a house here with ponds ,they end up calling me .When I bought my second house here realtor asked me to take out a pond at a house that he was trying to sell and the word got around .

you may need to raise up the sides for run off .I can't see how they had the first pond going into the second one .Waterfall is a real mess and pond on top may freeze solid in the winter and since depth of second one is not known yet it could be a problem with that one too .Could be why they gave up on it .They did not build it right .I like a pond close to where you sit all the time so it can be enjoyed more .Plus be very careful you may want to see if they ran electric out to it .Sure don't want to get shocked

oh yes, no one said this was going to be easy...will show updated pics later this week once drained and cleaned out. And as of the top piece debating still on just taking it out entirely or to possibly run backup line to keep water flowing during winter.

also look at your circuit breaker box and see what amp service you have and always check wattage of pumps

you may need a pond heater to run it in the winter if it is not 4 feet deep
