lol I am one of those on none of those social media things, but if the photos on instagram are beautiful, might take a look. Don't have the desire to type and type.

Instagram is my favorite social media - lots of pictures, no negativity. I curate my feed closely so I'm not getting anything that inspires people to leave ugly comments. Nature, animals, food, books... beautiful photos and few words.

I don't have social media accounts, this is the only public forum I have Joined. When I leave the house I turn down cell phone volume, when talking to family and friends, it's in person or by phone. We use the computer for school work and researching personal interests. When my kids are older it may change, I just think with kids and teens, I need to be careful. So I guess it will be subscriptions for the next few years at least. In saying all that I have enjoyed the photography here.

I have looked on Instagram a few times but I never do anything on there. I look on Twitter too but never Tweet. Mostly to see what my bad neighbor down the road is up too. Planning my murder or something, lol!

I'm with you tara. while the internet is a very large resource of information there way to many PEOPLE out there who use it to push there desires on others. Before this social media BS. we did not have so many so irate folks being fed half truths. The Ted Koppel's the Walter Cronkite's of the world are long gone, where they simply reported the days events without bias. I'd love to see the Facebooks the Twitters the George Soros all be shut down. When we have a woman who says she idolizes the leader of the training camp in the desert, who was training the kids to attack schools. Who is still a main spokes person for a popular movement there's some serious problems.

Funny I agree about social media, I really do not use it that much my self. I do not facebook or twitter at all. I do belong here and a couple of photography forums. I joined instagram for the high quality of photos that are on there. It strives me to be better at photography. Me and my wife are actually one of those couples that talk without phones. I need my phone for business but that is about it. When we go on vacation you will not even see me with a phone, now a camera well that is a different matter ;) I even bring my cameras into the restaurants when one trips. Social media can be useful but I think it is just over used by many.

I thought I was the only one who walked into restaurants with my camera gear and maybe even a laptop checking out the shots of the day. But alas my wife is generaly not with me I often get my vacations at a last minute and she has a job where she has to give a month or more notice so I often go on photography adventures.

My kids are like that addy until they realize there at dads and I will not tolerate it. they think it's funny if they see they have a voice mail they know its from me no one but no one uses the phone in there generation. it's half the problem today they have no idea of to interact with one another.

I just personally feel that social media takes away independent thinking in kids. It seems they almost develop a herd mentality, it's a shame really as I've I have met some very smart kids with great grades, but at fifteen years of age some of these kids find it hard to make any small decision by themselves. I suppose the internet has to have the bad as well as the good, but it's the bad that concerns me. I can say I was relieved my son when in 7th grade did not have a fancy phone a few years ago, as a young girl in his school who had just turned 14 sent a nude photo of herself to a kid in 9th grade. Needless to say that kids friend copied it, and sent it on to others. My son saw it on his friends phone, but the bottom line is I was grateful my son did not have a phone able to receive downloads, as some of those boys got in a lot of trouble, the law now is no matter how old those boys were, sending that picture on to their friends is distribution and a crime. The girls family tried to sue the first boys parents, the whole thing was messy and expensive for two family's , all because of popular trends on social media. Regardless of my kids thinking they should have free access to the internet, it won't be happening just yet.

@GBBUDD you will have to get an old fashioned phone for your kids, my middle boy has one so it takes a lot of effort to text with those push buttons. The best part is he gets plenty of exercise biking up the road to his friends.

I could try but my youngest is 22 so he'll just lol at the old man and break out his second smart phone.
