I bought this in February from the Lowes Hardware clearance rack. It was in bad shape and they didn't know what it was, so they gave it to me for $2.
The faux-stone container is about 4" in length / width. It has a pot inside of it (I haven't taken it out to see what kind), and I've been watering it by filling up the container on the side with filtered water once a week, and letting it soak in through the pot.
Since around May 1 I've had it sitting outside, but in the shade of the house. The leaves have all perked up, but it has a browner tint to it now. The white that you see on the leaves are raised just a little, so it feels bumpy.
I'm thinking that it's a bromeliad, but I've never had one before and none of the pictures I've found online look like it. What do you all think?
