A painful series of errors on my part due to lack of research.

I know this is going to be long winded so please ignore if you not willing to try to comprehend my babble.
I'm new here or any other pond forums because i just didn't need the input... My last pond was approximately 1500 hundred gallons and ran like champ for over 20 years before i developed a small leak. Then this year i bought two small koi from a "good," source. I just tossed them in like i always do and within a week every koi in the pond were kicking off. Live and learn but losing fish you've had for a long time is a real buzzkill.
So i had the pond upgraded to 2500 gallons and the guy who did the rebuild talked a good story but could not back it up with action. I will say DO YOUR RESEARCH!!
I am going to try and address each problem one at a time in the appropriate place. As it stands I am on the horns of a dilemma and it's uncomfortable.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Hello and welcome! Venting is perfectly OK. We’ve all been there, done that!

Other than not quarantining the new fish, what else are you wanting to back up with facts/science?

Tell you what, since it sounds like you may have several things to talk about, it will be easier for you and for us to follow if you start a new thread for each issue. Otherwise, everything gets lost in one big long post.

OK post says painful errors but not much for this and that. Several koi in 2500 gallons can well over whelm a pond.

Hi and welcome. I am always leery of getting plants, snails, fish, or anything from a new source because I don’t quarantine either. This forum is a great source of information and there are some very nice people here. What happened with the new pond if I may ask?

Thanks folks. When i get home today I'll try to be more specific. One of more than a couple issues the guy cut the liner to short which is going to allow runoff to fill the pond with sand.
He also told me that my PF 3000 was a gimmick when the pond was 1500 gallons and not 2500 gallons and and set me up with a skimmer and a (filterfall) waterfall. The old PF 3000 allowed me to easily change out some water but I'm still working that out and it looks like I'll be using my old pump for that. He also put the skimmer and UV light so far away from the power source which means I'm using an extention cord until I get out there to run and terminate new separate circuits.
It is odd that folks don't know basic hydraulics. Water flows downhill and water always finds it's level. ,
I've got a bunch of stuff to resolve before I'm content. I'll post pics later. Again, thanks a lot
John
