Hello, I have drawn up a set up from many that i have seen to my small pond DIY Filter Project. Will this work, and if so what can I do to improve it? Thanks for all the expertise! Jason FIlter and Settlement Pond.jpg

I'm no expert, but it looks good to me. I've seen some examples where the spray bar at the top was made with a "cross-shaped" piece, so as to get a more spread out pattern for water flowing in. Also, be sure your out-flow tubing is a larger diameter than your in-flow tubing.

Nice diagram!

Gardengimp, The outflow comes from the Bottom of the Pot as Drawn. Im not sure yet if I will have it Pond side and just Make a spout on the pot to fall into pond or sit it up on something and Have a Drain Plug on the bottom side of the pot?

I've seen a number of home-made filters along the same lines as yours, and have even made a few myself. Not exactly hi-tech, but most of them work quite well. (Better than a lot of store-bought ones, in my opinion!) You can always experiment with different media, flow rates, etc. Good luck with it!

jason... the lower grid supporting the bio media should be above the outlet. and the outlet should be larger than the inlet. this limits the possibilty of clogging, or any restrictions in flow. this type of setup is a wet -dry media filter (trickle filter) a thin layer of mechanical media should be all thats needed. especially if you prefilter.(mechanical filtering before the pump)

Thanks guys but I actually just went a head and bought a Pressurized Filter on E-bay today, it was only $59. I will start a post because I know nothing about it lol Thanks again!
