Yep have teeth

I have watched the water snakes, huge ones, chasing the fish snapping their mouth open and shut, never catching any.
I hope my snakes don't catch any of mine. I have been filling my pond up w/water each day to raise it up due to our hot weather and evaporation and do a bit of a refresh. Sometimes it gets so high that I think a couple of my fish swam up over the sides and died on the grass. So I added some more rocks in area's where I think it might be happening. So far so good. I just hope the snakes aren't doing it and it's just the water rising too high!

Good luck! Patience is the key and a few sacrificial fry.

I have it tied right at water level, touch above unless you want to drown them. I put hornwort or parrots feather on the top. I have learned their fav entrance place. That is where the trap is.

I check daily to dump out tad poles. Let a fry be in it for a day or so then released.

Then just wait.

The first snake attack year I caught one every few days, or at least saw them.

This year 3 smallish ones. Like yearling. No big mama like the first year. Watched it swim snapping at the fish, missing most of the time

We have Chaptico creek running thru our property so the snake was released far off our yard.
By them damn leprechauns right they stole your snake to pull a prank on some trying to get their gold . That's what I heard

This was a small one. Not the one we saw on top of netting. Gone from 40+ goldfish to 15 with a few fry. Haven't seen any sign of snakes in koi pond but trap is set. Had over 30, now 14!

I feel your pain! I put 250 small fish in the pond, $600.00, had maybe 40 left. And had maybe 35 left before adding them.

My 1000 gallon pond had around 20 fish. Three were left. All in the first year.

Hornwort, anacharis both kept groomed now, no snake hiding spots to hunt from. Or at least fewer.
