#30 caught. Drowned, not in trap yesterday, 2.19 inches of rain last night put the trap under water.

We were in a drought again, grass brown, needed the rain.

These are all smallish ones, diameter wise.
Length about 18 inches.

Might have been born last year.

I hope I don't have a fat mama out there

Amazon, minnow traps. I have eggs, fake and real in them. Random fry, tadpoles. I empty the trap of them every other day or so. So they don't starve.

I found that like to lay in wait for a fish in the plants. I removed a lot of the hornwort, their favorite hunting ground.

I watched a small garter snake swim across the water in my pond yesterday. It waited in the parrot's feather and when it saw a goldfish moving it struck but made no contact. Heck the goldfish was too big in the first place! Maybe the snake just strikes at anything that moves? I don't think it could even hurt a fish that is that large. Do they have teeth?

Yep have teeth

I have watched the water snakes, huge ones, chasing the fish snapping their mouth open and shut, never catching any.
