Anyone used these 1.5" foam noodles to make a planter float?

I'm thinking I might be able to rig up this planter to float with these foam noodles and some zip ties? Or would adding substrate to these planters make them too heavy to float with 1.5" solid core foam noodles around the perimeter at the top of the basket?

Worth a shot or unlikely to work? I can just put the planter up on some rocks on the shelves, but that limits placement more. Also considering driving some stakes into the ground beside the pool and tying the planter to the side on each end, but still need the inside edge to have some support somehow.

They hold up heavy people they should be able to hold up a planter! Cheap to buy in pool stores

You prolly wouldn't want the colorful ones as they would stick out. Black or gray would be better like the pipe insulation type they sell at H-Depot or Lowes or the Amazon ones.

not sure if the pipe wrap would have the float ability as the pool noddles, would need to test them out

Not sure either but I have used them to float my body on. I think you can get it in different thicknesses but not sure.
